In this episode that we recorded months before we got around to uploading it, we talk about some news that has already been discussed to death and go on random tangents, plus Johnny’s dad has a warning for listeners about potatoes. Somewhere in the midst of all this nonsense, we discuss Thor: The Dark World. We’d tell you about Johnny’s hilarious recap, but you’re better off listening to it yourself.
It’s been a looooong time since our last episode, and we come back to catch up on news that you probably heard months ago. The boys also look at some of the trailers for big comic book movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain: America: The Winter Soldier (the latter two of which are already in theaters), debate the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and the main discussion is focused on the Marvel One-Shot All Hail The King, which the guys feel is a step forward in apologizing for Iron Man 3.
We start the New Year off wrong by watching Man of Steel, or as we prefer to call it, Man of Genocide. Both of us had a lot of problems with the new, darker Superman who is incapable of making decisions for himself, completely oblivious to his surroundings, and undertakes actions that feel like they’d be more at home on the rap sheet of a supervillain.
In honor of the holidays, Perry and Juan take a look at the Christmas-set Iron Man 3 and engage in the Festivus tradition of The Airing of Grievances. Both of us had a lot of problems with Iron Man 3, and now you’re all gonna hear about it. Plus, we also turn our wrath on Disney for pulling their content from the libraries of Amazon users who paid for Disney Christmas films and launch an attack on DRM. Better break out the Southern Comfort eggnog, because we’re all gonna need it!
Perry and Juan take on The Wolverine! Find out why Perry says it’s the best comic book movie of the 2013 summer, listen to how the movie reignited a past pursuit of Juan’s, and follow along and nod your head in agreement with their criticism of a certain snake-skinned villainess! All this, plus news, including Perry and Juan’s reaction to the Gal Gadot/Wonder Woman casting, Juan’s feelings on Arnold returning to The Terminator franchise, and more! Plus, as an added bonus, we go stand on Alan Moore’s lawn!
In the first episode of the Geek Screen, meet your hosts, Perry and Juan. Find out how they got into comics and all the media associated with that. Listen in as Perry and Juan discuss some of the latest news updates in the world of nerd-related media, including Juan’s thoughts on the casting of Aaron Taylor Johnson as Quicksilver in the upcoming Avengers sequel. And let’s not forget the main subject of the episode, which is Arrow, how it connects (or doesn’t?) to the burgeoning DC Cinematic Universe, and Juan makes a connection that will prevent you from ever taking Stephen Amell in a mask seriously. Plus, Juan may be responsible for your favorite TV show being cancelled. How? Listen and find out!
